I have been hanging, far flung out on the otherside of the country this past couple of weeks - riding waves and getting photos for No. 6 & Limited Edition. Lackey and Leuhman have been showing me around for what has been quite a wild couple of weeks in the west. It was the first time I have ever surfed this side of Oz and I am pretty convinced I am going to move here. There are so many set-ups and swells are consistent as fuck, not to mention living costs are about a third in price of Sydney. As soon as my 0 per week hostile Avalon lease comes up in October, I am getting real and getting over there.

Included are two frames Lackey shot on his Nomad camera out at Mandura wedge last week. Alex Turoy shot some pretty cool high res stuff that hopefully you will be able to check out in the future magazines.

09/04/2009. NEW PLASTIC LINE DROPS BOMBS



As Chucky-G explains it "Lots of titties and skulls and shit. Ya know, the shit we like and live all day every day."
Word is also strengthening that one of the Ozzy riders will be taking over the Australian Licensing for Plastic People,
so you can expect a hell load of buzz from the riders aswell as a few East Coast parties promoting like that the hellfire did last year.

Stay tuned for the range launching this April 15th.

A new deal has just been sealed between myself and No. 6 bodyboards + Limited Edition Fins starting this April 1st.
It was a tough decision leaving NMD and Stealth but I did feel it was time to move on and No. 6/ Limited Editions proposal was too good not to sign!
I will now be the number one rider of No. 6 and I will be involved with film team trips of Limited Edition team with Griz, Lackey and Pence etc which will be fun.

No. 6 are also releasing my own No. 6 MAX Signature model in the coming couple of months which from what i've seen of the samples looks freaking awesome. I will be able to release photo's of the samples in the next week, so stay on it.

D'bah produced some blazing waves for the final day of the Rheopaipo Pro today with 3-4 ft clean wedges hanging around for the most of the day.

I just signed a new 2 year deal with European label Sen No Sen Westuits. I've tried google translating "Sen No Sen" from
French to English but with no result i gather it must be some sort of groovy locale slang???

I flew in this morning jet lagged as hell to find 4-5ft waves for my first day on the North Shore. I cant stand this place. The waves are good and catching up with friends is awesome, but the crowds and vibes from the community in and out of the water sicken me. If it was'nt for the comp i would'nt be here. It was funny. I phoned up my team manager Jose Marquina to talk a little shop the night before christmas eve on the 23rd.
Had to organise a couple of boards and accessories to pick up for the upcoming hawaii season this February.
Trying to suck up a little and add a little graciousness to my phone call i took the time to get the low down on Jose' plans for hawaii this season. Half way through him talking, he awkwardly pauses... "Wait.. What the fuck are we talking about Hawaii for?! More importantly what are you doing for xmas eve tommorow night! Hawaii is not for ages. Are you partying?!"
Pfft Who was i kidding really! Its bloody chrissy eve tomoro. Lets party!

... So you heard it kids. Straight from the mouth of one of bodyboarding industries biggest cats, the man any aspiring professional wishes they had a contract involved with. It is the off-season for waves people. It is the time to party!
And In tribute to this, I have attatched an amazing live recording of Jim Morrisson drunk, jamming 'Roadhouse Blues' with his band 'The Doors' from a show in 1970. A sure kick in the ass to get any one-dimensional, colorless android the inspiration to get out and get groovy! Merry X-mas and a Happy New Year Everybody.

22/11/2008. A FISTFUL OF ROD!
Just alike to scoring a 10 point ride in any comp, theres something about getting an air punch from Rodeo thats so rewarding.
One of the most enthusiastic media paps' in the channel, you cant help but get that subtle feeling of accomplishment after pulling off the back of a smoking tube and seeing that extended left arm of his chucking fist.

Two days ago, on a road trip down the coast I have never witnessed so much air punch, in any one session.. ever!
Super tubes in Ulladulla turned on for the first time this year, and people were talking it up as good as the session that scored surfers and boogers covers the world-wide a couple of years back.
Rod Owens, Lee Kelly, Ryan Mattick and a couple others were the media on hand whilst Alex Bunting, Jose Marquina, Ewan Donnachie, Thom Rob + a few pro stand ups and myself were the ones riding. It was a mental day of waves and will be sure to be seen in print with companies already rumoured to be laying down thousands of gee's for advertising rights to the photos.
So keep your eyes peeled people and get a load of what rodeo's rave is all about.

07/11/2008. GET OUT. GROW UP

Old sucks. New is rad.
I finally realised this after spending my first 7 days out of home this week. Moved into a prized little 1 bedroom Avalon apartment and am loving life. Sure the rent is steep, but with the amount of cool shit that can potentially go down with running your own private pad, its priceless!

All dirty thoughts aside, one thing I am looking forward to most is purchasing my own copy of Phil Gallaghers soon to be released book about bodyboarding, "DLUX" to deck out my coffee table with.

Phil is also hosting a DLUX launch party on the 11th of December for all his friends and supporters in celebration. I think the invite sounded pretty exclusive so I'm not sure how keen he would be on me bleeding out party details over the net. But what I can tell you is just about every industry name is going to be there.

Good friend of mine Timmy.B and myself scored free tickets to Sparkadia's show at the Gaelic Club on friday night.
Im generally a chilled fan of Sparkadia's music. Kind of one of those - on the way to work a monday morning - kind of bands.
Dumbstruck was I when they put on a real psychadelic, punk performance. It got radical.
Tracks live 'Jealousy' and 'Animals' are my picks. Listen to their studio recordings here.

The group have also produced, what looks to be over 100 000 photos manipulated into a video stream for a cool clip to their track 'In The Morning Light'.



If anyone in West Oz, Queensland or Tassie can catch their next shows, go for it.
Just dont put yourself through the pre-performance acts of supporting bands Oh Mercy and Gin Wigmore.. They stunk.

The new Riptide mag arrived in my mail box yesterday.
A few things I took note of from the issue:

- Firstly Ryan Hardy is the fucking man! One of the most humble and genuine dudes Ive ever met.
And those air reverses from the 'Rumbe In the Jungle' article... Classic.

- Secondly with Mick Parkhill's 'The Blue Building Turns 10' opinion's on the best means for the bodyboarding industry to grow.
I could'nt agree more with his response, but I just want to express further ;
The "fundamental, grass-root" riders ARE wearing bodyboarding label clothing. Not just for the fact that their getting paid to do so, but because they want to. I think the worst thing a bodyboarding clothing label can produce are clothing lines the same as brands like Quicksilver and Rusty, but with a different logo splashed. Bodyboarders are cooler than that! And this is being potrayed through the designs and clothing cuts that labels like Plastic People and IamNone etc are producing. Because really, other than where the money from those sales are going, how else can you define a difference?

- And lastly I want to chuck out some mad props to Pro rider / WBB Team Manager (my boss) Jose Marquina.
Your cover is fucking mental man! One of the greatest slash heaviest Zone barrels Ive ever seen. And to compliment that, jose hones the back cover launching to the skies with a monsterous invert aswell. Shit, what cant this man do??!! hmmmmmmm
